A heartbreaking incident has emerged from the outskirts of the city, where a scooter carrying two riders was swept away by powerful floodwaters, leaving one person missing.
Continuous heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding in Sambalpur, inundating low-lying areas and disrupting daily life across the district.The most tragic incident occurred at Bagdihipada, where two people riding a scooter attempted to cross an overflowing drainage channel on Sunday night. Suddenly, a powerful surge of rainwater rushed through the channel, sweeping away the scooter and both riders within seconds.
In a miraculous escape, one of the riders managed to survive after being rescued. However, the second rider was carried away by the strong current and remains missing.Fire Services personnel immediately rushed to the scene and launched an extensive search and rescue operation. Teams continue to search the flooded channel in the hope of tracing the missing individual.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing the terrifying moments as the scooter was swallowed by the raging waters. The footage also captures rescue teams battling dangerous conditions in an effort to save the victims.
