New Delhi : Senior IPS officer Sanjukta Parasor has taken charge as Inspector General (IG) of the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), becoming the first woman officer to head the specialised jungle warfare force.
A 2006-batch IPS officer of the Assam Meghalaya cadre, Parasor brings extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations, field policing and national security related investigations to the crucial assignment.
The CoBRA force is a specialised arm of the CRPF trained and deployed primarily for operations in challenging jungle and insurgency affected areas. Its personnel are equipped and trained for guerrilla and jungle warfare, intelligence based operations and counter insurgency missions.
Parasor’s appointment marks a significant milestone in the operational leadership of the specialised force and reflects the expanding role of women officers in critical security assignments.
Known for her field experience in challenging operational environments, Parasor has served in various policing and security roles during her career gaining experience in counter insurgency and investigations.
Her assumption of charge comes as the CRPF continues to strengthen specialised capabilities for addressing security challenges and maintaining operational readiness in difficult terrains.
