Qazigund, J & K : A Traffic Police Head Constable was killed after being hit by a truck near Shampora Bridge in Qazigund area of Kulgam district on Saturday morning, officials said.

According to officials, the traffic policeman was struck by a truck bearing registration number JK03Q-9011 near Shampora Bridge. The speeding truck reportedly lost control and hit the officer, leaving him critically injured.

The officer succumbed to his injuries at the spot, officials said. The deceased was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, son of Abdul Sabir Bhat, a resident of Kulpora.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and further details are awaited.
