Lucknow : A marital dispute allegedly turned into a chilling murder in Lucknow, where a man was reportedly stabbed to death while he was asleep, with his body later hidden inside a wooden box under a bed in an alleged attempt to conceal the crime. According to police, the deceased, identified as Ramkishore Valmiki, had been in a relationship with Sufia Bano for around four years and the two had married about two years ago.

However, frequent arguments reportedly broke out between the couple over Ramkishore’s continued contact with his first wife, Kavita Devi. Police allege that during the night of September 14–15, Sufia called her alleged lover Munna and another associate, Mohammed Iqbal, to the house, where Ramkishore was allegedly attacked with a knife while he was sleeping.

After the alleged killing, efforts were reportedly made to conceal evidence by hiding the blood-stained bedding, Ramkishore’s clothes and the knife. Police further allege that Sufia’s 16-year-old son and other associates placed the body inside a wooden box and hid it under the bed. The following night, the body was allegedly transported in an e-rickshaw and dumped beneath a canal bridge near Bhawakhada in Kanakhar, reportedly in an attempt to destroy evidence. The case came to light after Ramkishore’s first wife, Kavita Devi, filed a complaint, following which police registered a case on September 17.

During the investigation, officers reportedly examined around 170–180 CCTV recordings along the suspected e-rickshaw route to trace the movement of the vehicle. Police subsequently arrested Sufia Bano, Munna and Mohammed Iqbal, while Sufia’s 16-year-old son was also taken into custody. The e-rickshaw allegedly used to transport the body has also been seized. The investigation is continuing, and police are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder and the subsequent attempt to conceal the body.
