Faridkot, Punjab : In a major breakthrough against cross border drug trafficking, Faridkot Police have busted a cross border heroin smuggling network and arrested four alleged operatives, recovering 47.3 kg of heroin, three pistols, three magazines, 15 cartridges and two vehicles.

According to police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused are allegedly linked to a network involved in the cross border smuggling of heroin and illegal arms into Punjab.

The recovery was made during an operation by Faridkot Police, following which an FIR was registered at Police Station Sadiq in Faridkot district.

Police said further investigation is underway to identify the wider network and establish the forward and backward linkages of the arrested accused.

Punjab Police said it continues to maintain strict vigil against cross border smuggling and is taking action to dismantle drug trafficking and organised criminal networks operating in the state.

The seizure of the large quantity of heroin and illegal arms is being viewed as a significant action against the supply chain of narcotics and weapons into Punjab.
