Jammu Kashmir : A Jammu-based gangster who allegedly escaped from a juvenile home in R S Pura along with two Pakistani nationals in February, has been arrested in Delhi after a seven month-long manhunt officials said on Wednesday.

The accused identified as Karajeet Singh alias Gugga, a resident of Dablehar in R S Pura, had allegedly masterminded the escape and remained on the run since then. Police traced and arrested him in Delhi following sustained efforts to track his movements officials said.

According to officials, Singh and Pakistani nationals Mohammad Suna-ullah 20 and Ahsan Anwar, 21 allegedly attacked police personnel before fleeing from the juvenile home on February 16. Two policemen were injured in the incident.

While Singh managed to evade arrest for nearly seven months the two Pakistani nationals were apprehended within 20 hours of the escape.

The duo were traced near Ambala railway station while allegedly attempting to travel towards Nepal and were arrested by police the following day.

Following his arrest in Delhi Singh is being brought back to Jammu, officials said, adding that further investigation into the escape and the accused’s alleged criminal links is underway.
