New Delhi : The Indian Air Force (IAF) has achieved a significant milestone in aviation history after its IL-76MD strategic transport aircraft successfully landed at Nyoma in eastern Ladakh at an altitude of 13,629 feet, marking the highest-altitude landing ever achieved by this aircraft anywhere in the world.

The historic landing showcased the aircraft’s operational capabilities in challenging high-altitude conditions and highlighted the exceptional flying skills, precision and professionalism of its crew.

The achievement is being viewed as an important boost to India’s strategic airlift capabilities, particularly in facilitating the movement of personnel, equipment and essential supplies to remote and high-altitude areas.

The successful operation also demonstrated the Indian Air Force’s ability to operate heavy transport aircraft in demanding geographical and environmental conditions, further strengthening India’s preparedness in strategically important regions.

The milestone marks another major achievement for the IAF and reflects its continued efforts to enhance operational capabilities and push the boundaries of military aviation.
