Vadodara, Gujarat : There has been a big uproar in Parul University regarding the quality of hostel food. Thousands of students protested after the allegation of cockroaches being found in food at Atal Bhavan Hostel. The students allege that complaints were being made about the quality of hostel food for a long time, but due to lack of proper action, anger finally erupted. After the flag hoisting, a large number of students gathered at Parul campus and raised slogans of “We Want Justice”.
According to the students, complaints were being made about the quality of food served in the hostel for a long time. Despite repeated representations by the students regarding the quality of food, cleanliness and food arrangements, the students allege that no permanent solution has been found to the problem. Meanwhile, there was a huge anger among the students who came across the allegation of cockroaches being found in the food at Atal Bhavan Hostel. When word spread that insects were found in the food, a large number of students gathered and protested against the food quality of the hostel.
The main question of the students is that when food is prepared for thousands of students in the hostel, why is its quality and cleanliness not properly checked? If cockroaches are really found in the food, then serious questions arise about the food preparation process, kitchen cleanliness and food safety arrangements. The students say that this is not a one-day problem. Despite complaints being made about the quality of food for the last few months, the students’ dissatisfaction was increasing as the problem was not resolved. Now, after the allegation of cockroaches being found, this dissatisfaction has turned into a public protest.
Amidst the protests of the students, Parul University President Devanshu Patel also came to the ground to settle the matter himself. An attempt was made to understand the entire matter by talking to the students. With thousands of students protesting together, the situation on the university campus became a topic of discussion. The students are demanding accountability and proper arrangements for the quality of the food.
The most important thing in this matter is that no detailed information has been officially released by the Parul University management regarding the entire incident. So, official clarification is still awaited regarding whether cockroaches were actually found in the food or not, how many complaints were received earlier regarding the quality of the food and what action was taken regarding those complaints. The university administration’s side will also be important against the students’ allegations. If there is a serious defect in the quality of the food, then action will be taken against the responsible person and strict food safety protocols will need to be implemented to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
Currently, the entire matter has come into the spotlight due to the protests of the students and everyone is watching what decision the university administration takes on this issue.
