Bhubaneswar : Odisha is set to witness a high-profile visit on Tuesday as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are scheduled to undertake a day-long tour of the state. The two senior Union ministers are expected to visit Sunabeda in Koraput district, where they will visit the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility and review various activities associated with the strategically important establishment.
The visit is attracting considerable attention in Odisha, particularly because of the presence of two key Union ministers whose portfolios are closely linked to the country’s internal security, national security and defence preparedness.
As part of their Odisha visit, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh are scheduled to reach Sunabeda, where they will visit the HAL facility. The ministers are expected to review ongoing activities and developments at the establishment and take stock of various operational and administrative matters.
HAL’s presence in Sunabeda makes the area an important part of Odisha’s defence-related industrial landscape. The visit by the Defence Minister is particularly significant in the context of India’s continued focus on strengthening domestic defence manufacturing and enhancing indigenous capabilities.
The Union ministers are expected to interact with officials and receive briefings on the functioning and activities of the facility. The visit could also provide an opportunity to highlight the contribution of Odisha’s defence establishments to the country’s broader strategic and industrial objectives.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is also expected to remain present during the programme. His participation adds further significance to the high-profile visit, bringing together the Union government’s senior leadership and the state government at an important defence establishment.
The presence of the Chief Minister is expected to facilitate discussions on matters concerning Odisha and the state’s role in the national defence and industrial ecosystem.
Meanwhile, security arrangements have been significantly strengthened across Koraput district ahead of the visit. With two senior Union ministers and the Odisha Chief Minister scheduled to be present, security agencies and local authorities have stepped up preparations to ensure a smooth and secure programme.
Security personnel have been deployed at strategic points, while arrangements are being made along the routes expected to be used by the visiting dignitaries. Authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance around Sunabeda and the HAL premises, as well as other important locations associated with the visit.
The movement of the VIP convoy is also being closely coordinated, with security agencies working to ensure that the programme proceeds without disruption. Local administration and police authorities are coordinating arrangements related to traffic management, access control and the security of the visiting leaders.
The visit comes at a time when India is placing increasing emphasis on self-reliance in defence production, indigenous technology and strengthening domestic defence infrastructure.
The HAL establishment at Sunabeda is an important part of this ecosystem, making the visit of the Defence Minister particularly significant.
The presence of the Union Home Minister alongside the Defence Minister also makes the programme a major high-level engagement in the state.
For Odisha, the visit is expected to once again bring attention to the state’s growing role in defence manufacturing, strategic infrastructure and national security-related activities.
As preparations continue in Sunabeda, authorities remain on alert and security arrangements are being closely monitored ahead of the arrival of the Union ministers.
