Pulwama, J & K : Jammu and Kashmir BJP General Secretary and National Council Member Mohammad Anwar Khan today visited Pulwama and attended a party meeting, where organisational matters and various issues concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir were discussed.

Addressing party workers and office-bearers, Anwar Khan called for strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots level and maintaining continuous engagement with the public. He urged workers to highlight genuine public concerns and remain connected with people across their respective areas.

The meeting also focused on the recent electricity tariff hike and what the BJP described as the failure of the present government to fulfil several promises made to the people during the Assembly elections.

The BJP leadership announced that the party will hold a Secretariat Gherao in Srinagar on September 2 to protest against the power tariff hike and other issues that, according to the party, have adversely affected the common people.

The BJP has strongly opposed the reported 6.83 per cent increase in electricity tariffs, which is scheduled to come into effect from September 1. Party leaders said the decision would add to the financial burden on households and demanded that the government reconsider the hike and provide relief to consumers.

Anwar Khan and other party leaders also raised concerns over unemployment, recruitment, alleged backdoor appointments, outsourcing of government jobs, corruption and other governance related issues.

The BJP leaders alleged that several commitments made to the people during the elections remain unfulfilled and said the government must be held accountable for its promises.

The September 2 protest, the leaders said, will provide the party an opportunity to raise these issues before the government and demand corrective measures in the larger public interest.

Party workers from Pulwama were urged to participate in the proposed protest in large numbers and make the programme successful.

The meeting concluded with a call to strengthen the party’s organisational network across Pulwama and intensify public outreach on issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
