Pulwama, J & K : A political controversy has erupted following a viral statement by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, drawing sharp reactions from opposition parties, including the Congress.
Addressing a press conference in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) District President Umar Jaan demanded that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) issue a public apology over Mehbooba Mufti’s recent remarks. He alleged that the statement had hurt public sentiments and accused the PDP of “playing with the emotions and feelings of the people of Kashmir.”
Reacting to PDP leader Waheed Para’s claim that the controversial video was generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI), Jan said the party should present evidence to support its assertion.”If the video is indeed AI-generated, the PDP must place the evidence before the public. Otherwise, Mehbooba Mufti should publicly apologize for her statement,” he said.
Jaan further warned that if the PDP fails to apologize, the Congress will launch an indefinite hunger strike at Press Colony, Srinagar. He said the party has already sought permission from the authorities to hold the protest and is awaiting approval.
According to Jaan, the proposed hunger strike will continue until the PDP issues a public apology.
