New Delhi : India has once again held up a mirror to Pakistan on the global stage. Calling out Pakistan’s charade regarding terrorism, India stated that the country has lost control over the very monster it created. India also reminded Pakistan of the Pahalgam attack, where terrorists nurtured by it brutally killed people after asking for their religion. Furthermore, India urged the global community to take strict action against nations that harbor or abet terrorism.
These remarks were made by Raghu Puri, First Secretary at India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations. He was speaking at a meeting of the UN General Assembly’s Sixth Committee on Wednesday. Puri delivered a scathing rebuttal to the statements made by Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative, Usman Jadoon, effectively dismantling Islamabad’s claims of being a “victim of terrorism.”
India stated that Pakistan has completely lost control over the ‘Frankenstein’s monster’ of terrorism that it had spawned. After wreaking havoc in neighboring countries, this monster is now targeting its own creators. Taking a dig at the situation, Raghu Puri said, “You cannot ride two boats at the same time. Reality simply doesn’t work that way.”
Raghu Puri exposed Pakistan’s contradictions by citing statements made by its own leaders. India recalled that Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, had admitted that her province faced a greater threat from its own neighboring provinces than from foreign countries. She had also acknowledged that terrorism has no political classification. Without explicitly naming anyone, India also pointed out that former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had openly admitted—in a 2018 interview—Pakistan’s involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and its role in providing sanctuary to terrorists.
Dismissing Pakistan’s fabricated claims regarding ‘Operation Sindoor’ India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack Puri remarked, “If bombed-out airfields and crater-filled runways look like a victory to Pakistan, they are free to enjoy it.” It is worth noting that during this operation, India crossed into Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to destroy dozens of terrorist hideouts and eliminate over a hundred terrorists.
Regarding Pakistan’s charade of raising the bounty on Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar from ₹50 lakh to ₹70 lakh, India stated that if the Pakistani media could reach Masood Azhar to confirm the destruction of his Bahawalpur hideout during ‘Operation Sindoor,’ then the Pakistani government is certainly well aware of his location. India also reminded the world where 9/11 mastermind Laden was captured, where the 26/11 attack originated, and who the patron of the Pahalgam attackers is. Ahead of the upcoming FATF meeting starting on October 26, India reiterated its demand for strict action against countries that engage in terror financing and provide support to terrorists.
