Gurez, J & K : In a significant step towards strengthening educational opportunities in remote border areas, the Indian Army has established a modern library at Block Bagtore in Gurez Valley of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, providing students with improved access to educational resources and digital learning facilities.

Situated near the Line of Control (LoC), Bagtore is a remote area where access to modern educational infrastructure and study materials remains a challenge for many students. The newly established library aims to address these difficulties by providing a dedicated space for reading, studying and preparing for academic and competitive examinations.

The facility was inaugurated through a collaborative effort involving the Indian Army, local MLA Nazir Ahmad Gurezi and civil authorities. The initiative is intended to encourage reading habits, promote knowledge and help students pursue their educational goals by providing access to essential learning resources.

The library is equipped with a smart LED system to facilitate digital learning and houses books covering a wide range of subjects, including academic materials and resources for various competitive examinations. The facility is expected to help students expand their knowledge beyond classroom learning and prepare for future academic challenges.

Speaking to the media, local resident Mohd Sultan welcomed the initiative, saying that the establishment of a modern library would greatly benefit students from Bagtore and neighbouring villages.

He said students in remote border areas often face difficulties accessing quality educational resources and suitable study facilities. The library, he added, would provide them with a conducive learning environment where they could concentrate on their studies, develop reading habits and prepare for competitive examinations.

Mohd Sultan also expressed hope that similar initiatives would be introduced in other remote parts of Gurez to ensure that students receive better educational support and opportunities.

Local student Misbah also expressed happiness over the establishment of the library, describing it as a valuable opportunity for students in the area.

She said the availability of academic books and digital learning facilities would make education more accessible and engaging, allowing students to benefit from modern learning resources without having to travel long distances in search of suitable study facilities.

Misbah further expressed hope that the initiative would encourage more students, particularly girls, to pursue their education with confidence and work towards achieving their academic aspirations.

Another student, Ahtishamul, welcomed the initiative, saying the library would provide students with a dedicated space to study, improve their academic performance and broaden their knowledge.

He said access to books and digital learning facilities would be particularly helpful for students preparing for competitive examinations, who often require additional study materials beyond their regular classroom lessons.

Ahtishamul expressed gratitude to the Indian Army and all those associated with the initiative for providing students in the remote border village with improved learning opportunities.

The establishment of the library reflects efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and support local communities in remote border areas. Such initiatives can play an important role in addressing educational challenges, encouraging a culture of reading and providing students with greater access to learning opportunities.

The new facility at Block Bagtore is expected to benefit students from the village and surrounding areas by creating a supportive environment for academic growth. It also offers an opportunity for young learners to explore new fields of knowledge, prepare for competitive examinations and work towards a brighter future.
