Priyanka denied an opportunity to speak at the Ramlila Maidan rally

New Delhi : Amidst the ‘INDIA’ alliance’s mega-rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, the BJP has launched a sharp attack on the Congress leadership, alleging a rift within its ranks.

The BJP claims that Rahul Gandhi’s camp feels insecure due to the growing influence of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and is deliberately sidelining her within the party.

BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the Congress leadership of denying Priyanka Gandhi an opportunity to speak at the ‘INDIA’ alliance rally held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan.

He further alleged that Priyanka Gandhi was also sidelined during the party’s ‘mock parliament’ event held a day earlier.

In a video statement, Bhandari claimed that the Congress has split into two power centers, with Rahul Gandhi’s camp allegedly attempting to curb his sister’s political stature.

Bhandari stated, “Priyanka Vadra a former General Secretary of the Congress and sister of Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to speak at the Ramlila Maidan today. Did Rahul Gandhi himself prevent her from speaking? And it wasn’t just today; even during yesterday’s ‘mock parliament’ an exercise aimed at ‘re-launching’ Rahul Gandhi Priyanka Vadra was seated in the second row and was not given an opportunity to speak.”

The BJP spokesperson asserted that the Congress is now divided into two distinct power centers. Rahul Gandhi’s political team, apprehensive about Priyanka Gandhi’s rising stature within the party, is actively trying to suppress her. A BJP spokesperson stated, “Rahul’s camp feels insecure about Priyanka’s camp, and the latter is being suppressed. Rahul Gandhi, who is attempting to re-launch himself for the hundredth time, is not speaking about the nation’s people or the Congress party; instead, he is solely focused on sidelining Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.”

Taking a dig, Bhandari remarked, “The Congress has split into two factions Rahul’s and Priyanka’s and the public is watching this infighting while enjoying some popcorn.”

This attack from the BJP comes at a time when top leaders of the ‘INDIA’ alliance organized a ‘Chalo Delhi’ (March to Delhi) protest in the capital, highlighting alleged irregularities in the electoral process and the handling of voter lists. The march commenced at the Minto Road-Connaught Place junction and concluded at Ramlila Maidan.

This show of strength brought together several prominent opposition leaders on a single platform, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, and CPI leader D. Raja.

The BJP’s allegations centered on the fact that Priyanka Gandhi’s name was missing from the list of speakers at the rally, and that her seating arrangement during the ‘mock parliament’ event was separate from the others.

However, Bhandari provided no independent evidence to support the claim that Rahul Gandhi had prevented his sister from speaking at any of the events.
