Handwara, J & K : Handwara Police, in coordination with the Indian Army’s 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 92 Battalion of the CRPF, have busted a suspected terror module allegedly being operated by an ex-terrorist in hybrid mode in the Handwara-Kupwara area.
According to police, reliable information was received regarding the activities of an ex-terrorist who was allegedly operating as a hybrid terrorist as part of a module linked to the banned terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).
Acting swiftly on the information, the joint security forces launched an operation at an identified location in Handwara town. Following a meticulous security drill, the accused was apprehended and identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Sultan Bhat, a resident of Kruhmura, Handwara.
During the operation, security forces recovered one Chinese-made pistol, two magazines and 16 rounds of pistol ammunition from his possession.
Police said the arrested individual is an ex-terrorist who had previously been arrested in two cases. A case, FIR No. 232, under relevant sections of law, has been registered at Police Station Handwara.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the complete network of the suspected module, identify other associates and establish its involvement in any other terror-related activities.
