Rajouri, J & K : Rajouri Police have busted an alleged over-ground worker (OGW) network linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and arrested three persons during the investigation into a terror module operating in the Pir Panjal region, officials said.

The arrested accused have been identified as Zakir Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, a resident of Kotcharwal Teryath; Mohd Azam, son of Ali Bahadur, also from Kotcharwal Teryath; and Mohd Mushtaq, son of Mohd Iqbal, a resident of Udhan in Rajouri police said.

According to preliminary investigation, the accused were allegedly involved in providing logistical support, safe transit and other ground level assistance to terrorists operating in the region.

Police said the investigation has also revealed that the accused allegedly acted as guides and facilitated the movement of terrorist groups towards the Kashmir Valley. They are also suspected of providing ground support to terrorists linked with multiple high profile attacks including an attack targeting civilians.

A significant recovery was made during the investigation after an improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered based on the disclosure of one of the arrested accused, police said.

Preliminary findings indicate that the IED had allegedly been handed over to the accused by members of a terrorist group for safe custody and its possible use in a targeted attack, officials said.

The arrests and recovery are part of the ongoing investigation into the terror network operating across the Pir Panjal region. Police said further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and ascertain the full extent of its activities.

The operation is expected to provide investigators with further leads regarding the logistical network supporting terrorist groups in the area police said.
