Budgam, J & K : One terrorist was killed in a joint search operation launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district on Friday officials said.
The operation was initiated following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
During the search, vigilant troops observed suspicious movement and challenged the suspected terrorists.
According to officials the terrorists responded by opening fire on the security forces triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
In the ensuing operation, one terrorist was neutralised. An AK-series rifle along with other war-like stores was recovered from the site, officials said.
The search operation in the area was continuing to ensure that no other terrorists or suspicious material remained concealed in the vicinity.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF as part of ongoing counter terrorism efforts in Kashmir.
