Srinagar, J & K : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday released the book “Sardar Patel and Kashmir: The Untold History”, authored by Rizwan Kadri, at Tagore Hall in Srinagar.

Addressing the gathering, Sinha congratulated Kadri on the book and appreciated the contributions of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan towards social service, national service, security and nation building.

Paying tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Lieutenant Governor described him as a towering nation-builder whose vision, determination and understanding of human nature played an important role in shaping a united India.

He said the book offered an opportunity to revisit important historical developments and reflect on collective responsibilities.

Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha said Patel remained closely engaged with developments in the region and maintained contact with several prominent personalities. He recalled the tribal invasion of 1947 and highlighted the role and courage of Brigadier Rajinder Singh and Maqbool Sherwani in resisting the attackers.

The LG stressed the need for historical accounts to be examined with honesty and fairness, saying the purpose of studying history should be to understand facts and draw lessons for the future rather than merely glorify individuals.

Sinha also highlighted developments in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019, saying the changes had placed greater emphasis on equal rights, security and opportunities. He pointed to expanding opportunities for youth in education, entrepreneurship, development and sports, while stressing that peace remained essential for sustained progress

Calling for continued public cooperation against terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance approach and urged citizens to contribute towards upholding the supremacy of the Constitution of India.

The event was attended by H.H. Acharya Swamishree Jitendriyapriyadasji Swamiji Maharaj and other distinguished guests. Sinha also appreciated the Sansthan for publishing the book and congratulated Kadri for bringing historical perspectives on Kashmir before readers.
