Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh : A shocking case from Bareilly has drawn attention after a woman was allegedly arrested for claiming to be an IAS officer and allegedly hiding her true identity before marriage. The woman is accused of misleading her husband, demanding money and threatening him with false legal cases when he refused to meet her demands.
According to the complaint filed by her husband, the relationship began through Facebook, where the two first became friends before their bond reportedly turned into a romantic relationship. The couple later got married, but after the wedding, the husband allegedly discovered that several claims made by his wife before marriage were not true.
The woman had reportedly told her husband that she had cleared the UPSC examination and was an IAS officer. She allegedly claimed that her appointment was delayed due to an ongoing court case and that she would soon join the administrative service once the matter was resolved.
However, after marriage, the husband alleged that the reality was different. He accused his wife of falsely presenting herself as an IAS officer and claimed that she later started demanding money from him and his family.
The complaint alleges that after receiving gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees, the woman allegedly demanded an additional ₹40 lakh from her husband. When he refused, she allegedly threatened to file false cases related to domestic violence and murder against him and his family.
Following the complaint, police initiated an investigation and subsequently took the woman into custody. The case has sparked discussions about the misuse of fake identities in relationships and the importance of verifying personal claims before marriage.
Police officials are now investigating the allegations, collecting evidence and examining all aspects of the case. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The incident from Bareilly has once again highlighted how online relationships can sometimes lead to unexpected complications when trust is built on false information.
