Madhya Pradesh: A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Madhya Pradesh’s Mandla district, where a 28-year-old pregnant woman was forced to give birth to quadruplets inside an auto-rickshaw after her family allegedly failed to get an ambulance in time.
Rajni Singram, who was seven months pregnant, reportedly developed labour pains and was first taken to a primary health centre. Doctors later referred her to the Bichhiya Community Health Centre, but while being transported in an auto-rickshaw, she went into labour and delivered four premature babies.
All four newborns, born at around 30 weeks with very low birth weight, died shortly after birth despite medical efforts.
The family alleged that repeated calls to the 108 ambulance service went unanswered, leaving them with no option but to hire a private vehicle. They blame the delay in emergency medical transport for the tragic outcome.
Doctors said the mother’s condition is now stable. Meanwhile, local authorities have said the matter will be investigated if a formal written complaint is submitted by the family.
