Significant Political Implications Expected

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the campus of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) part of the prestigious University of Delhi (DU) today to mark the historic occasion of its centenary.

At this special event, organized to coincide with Teachers’ Day and the centenary celebrations, the Prime Minister will not only attend as the chief guest but will also engage in a direct dialogue with the nation’s future generation—its youth and students.

This marks the first instance of the Prime Minister directly interacting with students following recent developments involving the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) specifically its ‘Gen-Z movement’ and youth-centric activities.

There is immense enthusiasm across SRCC and the North Campus regarding the Prime Minister’s visit. Both the college administration and the students have made special preparations to ensure this historic moment is memorable.

The Prime Minister’s interaction extends beyond a mere academic event; it carries far-reaching political and social messages.

Political circles are watching this development with keen interest, as it holds significant implications. Opposition leaders—including Rahul Gandhi and SP chief Akhil Yadav—see great potential in winning over young voters as a pathway to power.

Rahul Gandhi has already launched a dialogue campaign titled ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’, targeting students and youth across various cities in the country. However, he has also courted controversy during these events by making contentious references to the Manusmriti.

Young people constitute a substantial portion of the country’s population. Amidst efforts by opposition parties and various movements to woo the youth, the Prime Minister’s initiative to interact directly with students signals the ruling party’s intent to maintain a strong, direct connection with Gen-Z and young voters.

Political analysts view this as a major initiative likely to have a significant political impact. Delhi University is considered the nursery of student politics in the country. In this context, the visit of the nation’s top leadership to the college campus will help shift the narrative of student politics beyond mere protests, linking it instead to national development, innovation, and the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.

It is believed that a direct dialogue with the Prime Minister will convey to the youth that their aspirations, digital mindset, and fresh ideas play a crucial role in nation-building.

Prime Minister Modi’s engagement with the youth is not new. In his address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day, the Prime Minister had specifically focused on the youth and the country’s youth power.

He had stated that India’s future rests on the shoulders of the youth and that the country’s young people are making history across various fields—from startups, innovation, and the space sector to the sports arena.

Moreover, even during times of agitation and student unrest, the Prime Minister chose the path of dialogue rather than distancing himself.
He endeavored to connect directly with protesting youth and students by sharing posts on Instagram and other digital platforms.

In his messages, the Prime Minister assured the youth that the government is sensitive to their concerns and that channeling their talent, energy, and suggestions in the right direction is a national priority.

This is not the first time Prime Minister Narendra Modi has participated in a major event at Delhi University. Previously, on June 30, 2023, he attended the closing ceremony of Delhi University’s centenary celebrations. On that occasion, he traveled by metro, engaged in informal conversations with students, and addressed students and faculty at the DU Sports Complex.

The Prime Minister’s association with SRCC is also not new. Earlier, in 2013, while serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi had participated as the keynote speaker at an SRCC business conclave.
