Fresh Low-Pressure System to Bring More Rain to Odisha Around September 19
Bhubaneswar : Odisha could be in for another spell of rain as a fresh weather system is expected to develop over the north Andaman Sea around the evening of September 19, according to the latest weather reports based on the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast. An upper-air cyclonic circulation has formed over north Thailand and is expected to emerge over the north Andaman Sea before developing into a low-pressure area.
The system is likely to move west-northwestwards and could approach the south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh coast around September 22, potentially enhancing rainfall activity across parts of Odisha.
The developing system comes as Odisha continues to experience active monsoon conditions, with the IMD already indicating heavy-rain possibilities over the state in the coming days.
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has also warned of further wet spells as another cyclonic circulation develops over the Bay of Bengal region. Meanwhile, discussion about a possible cyclone later in September has also gained attention, but a cyclone cannot be confirmed at this stage.
Forecast models can change as the system develops, and the IMD’s present forecast is focused on the formation and movement of the low-pressure system rather than confirming a cyclone. Therefore, people should rely on subsequent official IMD updates rather than early model projections or speculation.
With the monsoon season approaching its withdrawal phase, weather systems forming over the Bay of Bengal can continue to influence rainfall over Odisha. Residents, especially in vulnerable and coastal areas, are advised to keep track of official weather warnings as the system evolves over the next few days.
