UttarPradesh: The Uttar Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted its status report to the Supreme Court in the alleged Ram Mandir donation theft case ahead of Monday’s crucial hearing. The report has been filed in a sealed cover, with its contents kept confidential.
The case pertains to allegations that donations offered by devotees at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya were repeatedly stolen or misappropriated during the counting process. Investigators have reportedly uncovered at least 70 instances of theft within just 40 days, with most incidents occurring during the evening counting shift. Several people have already been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.
During today’s hearing, a Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant will examine the SIT’s findings. The bench has also directed the Uttar Pradesh government to provide complete details of the SIT, including its composition and team members, before the next hearing.
Meanwhile, the Nirmohi Akhara has moved the Supreme Court, seeking the reconstitution of the Ram Temple Trust over alleged lack of accountability. The Akhara has also urged the court to ensure that its 2019 Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid verdict is implemented in both letter and spirit.
The Supreme Court’s observations and directions in today’s hearing are expected to shape the next phase of the high-profile investigation.
