Doda, J & K : In a significant development amid ongoing counter terror operations security forces on Saturday recovered the remains of a Pakistani terrorist affiliated with the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit in the Doda area of Jammu.
Officials said the recovery was carried out during a joint operation involving personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG) Doda, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The terrorist had earlier been neutralised during a joint counter terror operation in the area. His remains were subsequently retrieved by the security forces from the operation site.
A night enabled M4 rifle was also recovered from the site officials said, adding that the seizure forms part of the weapons and other material recovered during the operation.
According to officials, the slain terrorist was a Pakistani national and a member of the proscribed JeM outfit.
The recovery is being seen as a significant operational achievement for the security forces engaged in sustained efforts to dismantle terror networks and prevent their resurgence in the region.
Security forces continue to maintain heightened vigilance across vulnerable areas of Doda and adjoining areas with intensifiedt surveillance and counter terror operations aimed at thwarting attempts by militant groups to infiltrate or establish a foothold in the area.
