From Hospital to Home, But Fate Had Other Plans: Neurosurgeon Dies in Car Fire
Telangana : What began as a routine journey home turned into a horrifying tragedy on a Telangana highway when a neurosurgeon was trapped inside his car after it crashed into a divider and burst into flames. Dr K. Jagadish Babu, a respected neurosurgeon and Head of the Neurosurgery Department at a private medical college in Khammam, was travelling from Khammam to Hyderabad on Sunday morning to meet his family when the fatal accident occurred on NH-365BB near Pillalamarri in Suryapet district.
The crash took place at around 7:15 am, and according to police, the car caught fire shortly after smashing into the road divider. Within moments, the vehicle was engulfed in intense flames, leaving Dr Jagadish Babu trapped inside with no apparent way to escape. The fire was reportedly so fierce that the entire car was badly destroyed, while the doctor’s body suffered severe burns.
When police reached the scene, the situation had already turned into a devastating tragedy. Due to the extent of the burns, identifying the deceased was initially difficult, and authorities later confirmed his identity using the vehicle’s registration number and documents found at the scene.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical community and left the doctor’s family devastated. Dr Jagadish Babu’s family reportedly lives in Hyderabad, and he had been travelling home after completing his work in Khammam. Khammam Rural Circle Inspector G. Rajasekhar said the preliminary investigation suggested that the doctor may have fallen asleep while driving, possibly because of fatigue and lack of sleep, causing him to lose control of the vehicle before hitting the divider.
However, the exact circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Suryapet Government General Hospital for post-mortem examination as further investigation continues. A doctor who spent his life saving and treating others tragically lost his own life while simply trying to make his way home to his family.
