Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh : What appeared to be a shocking murder of a wealthy pharmaceutical businessman has now turned into a chilling tale of alleged betrayal from within the family. The murder of Kanpur-based crorepati medicine businessman Vineet Nimocha has taken a dramatic turn, with police alleging that his daughter-in-law Shalu was the mastermind who plotted his killing and allegedly hired their domestic servant Vishal for ₹6 lakh.
According to the police investigation, Vineet had a successful business worth crores and the family reportedly faced no financial crisis, but Shalu was allegedly unhappy with the strict control her father-in-law exercised over her and her husband’s spending, lifestyle and late-night outings.
Police said Vineet disapproved of Shalu attending parties and returning home late, and his repeated restrictions allegedly became a source of resentment. The murder took place at around 11:28 pm on Saturday, when Vineet was alone in his flat while his son Subrat and Shalu had reportedly gone to a party.
When the couple returned early Sunday morning, they allegedly found Vineet’s blood-soaked body lying in the bedroom, while Shalu reportedly cried and repeatedly pretended to faint, initially keeping suspicion away from herself. However, CCTV footage allegedly showed servant Vishal and another associate entering and leaving Vineet’s flat that night, prompting police to detain both men. During interrogation, Vishal allegedly revealed that he had carried out the murder at Shalu’s direction.
Investigators then examined Shalu’s call records and reportedly discovered that she and Vishal had spoken 14 times on the day of the murder, further raising suspicion. During questioning, police allege that Shalu eventually confessed to plotting the crime, saying she had grown frustrated with the restrictions imposed by her father-in-law despite being part of a wealthy family.
According to the investigation, she allegedly provided Vishal with a duplicate key and planned for Vineet to be killed while she and her husband were away. Police said the original plan was allegedly to suffocate Vineet with a pillow, but the situation turned violent when Vineet reportedly spotted the intruders while locking the rooms and raised an alarm.
Vishal and his associate allegedly panicked and attacked him with a knife, resulting in his death. Police have arrested Shalu and the other accused and sent them to jail as the investigation continues. The case has sent shockwaves through Kanpur, as what initially looked like a mysterious murder inside a wealthy household has allegedly exposed a deeply disturbing conspiracy involving a family member and a trusted domestic worker.
