Hard Work Pays Off : Commonwealth Silver Medallist Gyaneshwari Yadav Promoted to DSP

Raipur : Chhattisgarh’s talented weightlifter Gyaneshwari Yadav has received a major recognition for her outstanding performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she won the silver medal in the women’s 53kg weightlifting category, bringing pride to India and her home state.

In recognition of her historic achievement, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced a ₹30 lakh incentive for the athlete along with an out-of-turn promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

Gyaneshwari, who is currently serving in the Rajnandgaon district police as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), was felicitated at the Chief Minister’s residence, where she was congratulated for her remarkable achievement on the international sporting stage. The announcement is being seen as a major honour for an athlete whose journey has been marked by discipline, determination and years of hard work.

Gyaneshwari’s silver-medal performance becomes even more inspiring because she reportedly competed in the final despite experiencing physical health issues on the day of the event. However, rather than allowing the setback to affect her performance, she relied on years of training and preparation and found the strength to deliver when it mattered most.

Her determination eventually helped her secure the silver medal and make both India and Chhattisgarh proud. Following her achievement, the state government decided to recognise not only her sporting success but also her dedication and service in the police department by announcing the special promotion.

For Gyaneshwari, however, the silver medal is not the end of the journey but another step toward a bigger dream. Speaking after her achievement, she expressed confidence that she can go one step further at the 2030 Commonwealth Games and win a gold medal for India. She said the latest success has given her even more motivation to work harder, improve her performance and prepare for future international competitions.
