India finished fourth in the Commonwealth Games with 39 medals, including 13 golds

Gandhinagar, Gujarat: With the formal preparations for the Commonwealth Games-CWG to be held in Gujarat in 2030, the Fit India mantra given by Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi will get more momentum.

After the conclusion of the Glasgow CWG, the Commonwealth Games flag was handed over to Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi in Glasgow as the host state of the CWG in 2030.

In these Commonwealth Games, India has secured the fourth position in the Commonwealth Games by winning a total of 39 medals with 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze. Among the medals won by India, Indian paraathletes have also achieved the feat of 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals and with the historic achievement of the excellent debut of Indian paraathletes in the Commonwealth Games, the 20-year long wait of Indian paraathletes for the podium in the CWG has come to an end.

The Deputy Chief Minister and the delegation arrived in Gandhinagar from Glasgow and the Deputy Chief Minister formally presented the Commonwealth Games flag to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at the State Cabinet meeting with full dignity and respect.

Para athletes Rakesh Bhatt and Rohit Majgul, who will represent India in the Commonwealth Games 2026 to be held in Glasgow, were present on this occasion. Para table tennis player Sonal Patel also joined this occasion.

Now, the CWG flag will remain in Gujarat till the upcoming 2030 CWG and will become a source of inspiration for the CWG preparations and players, fulfilling the Fit India mantra given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi presented the CWG flag to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, which was greeted with cheers by the entire cabinet.

Congratulating the young players of Gujarat and the country, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi said that ‘Team Gujarat’ is moving forward with full preparations for the successful organization of the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.

The Deputy Chief Minister added that all the work is going on smoothly under the guidance of the Commonwealth Federation, Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Sports Department and Sports Authority of India (SAI).
