New Delhi Declaration 2026′ Approved Unanimously
New Delhi : The ‘New Delhi Declaration 2026’ has been unanimously approved at the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi. PM Modi presented the draft declaration to the BRICS member nations and asked if any country had objections; no member nation raised any, leading to its unanimous adoption.
The declaration focuses primarily on cooperation in renewable energy, concerns regarding unilateral trade barriers, the prevention of terrorism, and the resolution of global disputes through dialogue.
Prime Minister Modi stated that the New Delhi Declaration has set a clear path to advance the shared resolve of BRICS nations. The real responsibility now lies in implementing these decisions on the ground. He emphasized that merely making declarations is insufficient; they must be translated into tangible results.
Prime Minister Modi noted that the declaration focuses on conflict prevention, the peaceful resolution of disputes, robust multilateralism, and concerns regarding unilateral trade measures.
The BRICS declaration strongly condemns all forms of terrorism, including cross-border terrorism, terror financing, and terrorist safe havens. The summit condemned the terrorist attack that took place in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025.
Member nations called for adopting a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, ensuring accountability for perpetrators, and the early adoption of the UN’s Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT).
