PM Modi attends Dussehra celebrations in Delhi; “Those who hate our culture are enemies of the nation.”

New Delhi : Without naming anyone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has identified forces that harm the nation’s honor, individuals who divide society, and mindsets that harbor hatred toward the country’s culture as “enemies of the nation.” He further appealed to the people, stating, “We must identify the enemies of ‘Maa Bharati’ (Mother India), defeat them, and pledging ‘Nation First’ come together as one.” The Prime Minister made these remarks while attending a Ravan Dahan (effigy-burning) event held at IP Extension in the national capital on the occasion of Vijayadashami.

Beginning his address with the chant “Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai,” the Prime Minister noted that Indian culture and our ancestors have worshipped Lord Ram for thousands of years. This reverence stems not merely from the fact that Ram vanquished Ravan, but because he provided humanity with unparalleled ideals.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister remarked, “Lord Ram faced numerous hardships throughout his life, yet he never strayed from the path of truth and righteousness.” He added, “His expression remained unchanged he showed neither elation at the prospect of ascending to the throne nor sorrow at being sent into exile in the forest.” “He upheld righteousness and established truth, even while enduring every crisis.”

Explaining the concept of ‘Ram Rajya’ (the ideal state of Lord Ram), the PM described it as a benchmark for good governance. He stated, “Upon returning from his exile to become the King of Ayodhya, Lord Ram established a ‘Ram Rajya’ a model that is still considered the gold standard for good governance today.” Defining ‘Ram Rajya’ further, he explained, “It signifies a system of governance free from discrimination, where justice is accessible to all, equal opportunities are provided to everyone, and the purpose of power is not merely to rule, but to ensure the welfare of the people.”

Referring to the words of Goswami Tulsidas, the PM added, “This is why Tulsidas ji remarked: ‘In Ram Rajya, no one suffers from physical, divine, or material afflictions.’ This embodies the ideal of Lord Ram the epitome of righteousness (Maryada Purushottam). We must, therefore, always view the public as the Divine (Jan-Janardan) and embrace the principle that ‘citizens are akin to the Divine’ (Nagarik Devo Bhava). Serving the poor and the marginalized must remain our highest priority.”

Encouraging everyone to draw lessons from the life of Lord Ram, the PM said, “Friends, the life of Lord Ram offers us a profound lesson: no matter how great a crisis or how daunting a challenge may be, we must not rely on others. Instead, we must recognize our own potential, trust in our own resources, transform our resolve into strength, and forge solutions through our own hard work.”

He further added, “Lord Ram taught us that obstacles along the path cannot halt our journey. The ocean lay ahead, and Lanka was far away, yet his resolve remained unshaken. Lord Ram awakened the collective power of the people, harnessed public participation as his greatest strength, mobilized available resources, and turned what seemed impossible into reality. This is the fundamental mantra for success: faith in one’s own power, confidence in one’s own capabilities, the effective utilization of available resources, and an unwavering commitment to one’s goal. Today, we too must move forward guided by this very mantra.” Outlining the goals before the nation, he stated, “We have the objective of a ‘Developed India’ (Viksit Bharat) and an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-reliant India). We must leverage our human capital for the public good and fulfill every aspiration of our people.”

Addressing the issue of the nation’s adversaries, he urged, “All political parties must stand united in the national interest; this is the spirit we must embrace. We must collectively confront the enemies of the nation forces that undermine our national honor, those who seek to divide society, and the mindset that harbors hatred toward our culture; these are the true enemies of the country.”

Concluding his remarks, he said, “On this auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, let us reaffirm our resolve. We must identify the enemies of ‘Maa Bharati’ (Mother India), defeat them, and come together with the firm commitment of ‘Nation First.’ I am confident that we will successfully realize the vision articulated during the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony at the Ayodhya temple of transitioning from ‘Ram to the Nation’ and from the ‘Divine to the Country’.”
