Srinagar, J & K : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said issues related to Jammu and Kashmir need to be addressed by the Centre and not by Washington, making it clear that he would not raise grievances or seek solutions from the US Ambassador during their scheduled meeting.

US Envoy Sergio Gor is scheduled to arrive in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday on his maiden visit to the region. During his visit, he is expected to meet Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar.

Speaking to reporters, CM Omar said he would discuss Jammu and Kashmir and the prevailing situation in the region with the US envoy, but would neither complain nor look to him for solutions to the issues concerning the Union Territory.

He said the meeting with the ambassador was taking place after a considerable gap and that he was looking forward to the interaction.

“I would prefer to listen to him more, but he is also coming to listen. Let us see what kind of discussion takes place,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister undertook an early-morning tour of Srinagar and reviewed several ongoing and proposed development projects. Omar said most of the projects inspected during the tour were progressing satisfactorily, while some needed further impetus from the administration.
