Bhubaneswar : Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik has voiced strong concern over the ongoing protests by students against the alleged NEET paper leak, describing the situation as “very serious and very grave.” His remarks come amid growing nationwide outrage over the controversy and increasing demands for accountability from the Union government.
Expressing solidarity with the protesting students, Patnaik said the widespread demand for the resignation of the Union Education Minister reflects the deep concern and frustration among students, parents, and the public. He noted that the integrity of a national-level competitive examination is of immense importance and that the concerns raised by students deserve serious attention.
The BJD president also expressed anguish over reports that several students were allegedly injured during the protests. Calling the incidents deeply disturbing, he stressed that young people raising concerns about their future should be treated with sensitivity and respect.
Directing the party’s Members of Parliament to respond immediately, Patnaik asked BJD MPs to visit hospitals where injured students are undergoing treatment, enquire about their condition, and extend every possible assistance. He said the party stands with the students and expects all necessary support to be provided to those who have suffered injuries.
The alleged NEET paper leak has sparked widespread protests in several parts of the country, with students demanding a fair and transparent examination system, strict action against those responsible for the leak, and greater accountability from the authorities. The controversy has also intensified political reactions, with several opposition parties backing the students’ demands and questioning the Centre’s handling of the issue.
