Directs District Officials to Strengthen Labour Safety Measures, Calls for Comprehensive Security Review Across Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, J & K : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday convened a high-level security review meeting to assess the overall law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir, with discussions centering on counter-terrorism measures, security of migrant workers, arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, and strengthening the Union Territory’s security framework.

During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor instructed Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police across all districts to re-evaluate and reinforce the existing security protocols designed for the protection of labourers from outside Jammu and Kashmir.
He directed the district administration to ensure that every non-local worker is properly documented with the local police and civil administration. Employers were also asked to provide insurance coverage for their workforce to improve their safety and welfare.

Stressing the importance of eliminating the terror threat, Manoj Sinha called upon security agencies to further accelerate intelligence-based operations against terrorist groups and dismantle their support structures.
He said that security forces should continue focused and coordinated operations to effectively neutralise terrorists and maintain peace across the UT.

Taking note of the recent terrorist attack in Kulgam in which two migrant labourers lost their lives, the Lieutenant Governor instructed the administration to ensure respectful last rites for the deceased and extend every possible assistance to their families during this difficult time.

The meeting also reviewed the security preparations for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Officials discussed additional measures to further strengthen the multi-layered security system to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, Special DG Coordination S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, Commissioner/Secretary GAD M. Raju, Inspector Generals of Police, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police, and other senior civil and police officers.
