Surat, Gujarat : After the Spurious liquor tragedy in Bhavnagar, the police have raided many places across Gujarat and turned a blind eye to bootleggers. In such a situation, shocking news has come out from Surat. The claims of strict liquor ban in Surat are proving to be hollow and bootleggers have now changed their tactics to throw dust in the eye of the law. Amid the strictness of the police, leaving vehicles on the roads, trains are now being made a medium for liquor smuggling, which raises big questions on the security arrangements.

A huge quantity of liquor has been seized near Surat in train number 09037 going from Bandra to Bhuj. The inaction of the system has been exposed in this incident because the work that was supposed to be done by the RPF and GRPF was done by the common people and the passengers themselves. A large quantity of liquor was seized by the passengers in the running train

The biggest worrying question in this whole matter is that when such a large quantity of foreign liquor was hidden inside the train, why did the railway police and security forces deployed at the stations not smell it? It is clear that the claims of intensive checking and security at the stations are only on paper, due to which the morale of the bootleggers is increasing day by day.

Amidst the claims of strict implementation of the liquor ban in Gujarat, this new modus operandi of the bootleggers has become a big challenge for the security agencies. If the passengers themselves had not become aware and started catching such crimes, then perhaps this quantity of liquor would have easily reached its destination under the mercy of the system. It is imperative that the authorities conduct a strict investigation into this matter and close the loopholes in railway security as soon as possible.
