Srinagar, J & K : Jammu and Kashmir’s Education Minister and National Conference (NC) leader, Sakina Itoo, reaffirmed on Wednesday that her party would persist with its non violent agitation for the reinstatement of the state’s special constitutional position and full statehood, declaring that every day is a day of protest for them.
Addressing journalists on the margins of the NC demonstration in Srinagar, Minister Itoo stated that the campaign for reclaiming Jammu and Kashmir’s entitlements has been ongoing since 2019 and would be pressed forward at all possible forums.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir have exercised their choice, and they are free to do so on any given day. For us each day is a protest day, and every single day we will calmly raise our voices across all levels and platforms to demand the return of our rights she said.
Itoo emphasized that this demand is not exclusive to the NC but echoes the widespread feelings of the populace throughout Jammu and Kashmir. This represents not merely the stance of a single organization, but the collective voice of all the people across the territory,she added.
The minister alleged that authorities had imposed restrictions in various areas to deter public participation in the rally, and claimed that multiple security checkpoints had been set up. She further alleged that while NC demonstrators encountered movement curbs, BJP workers were permitted unhindered passage through Lal Chowk. Such unfairness, coercion, and victimization will not be accepted. We shall keep pressing for our entitlements, and we will do so peacefully. With God’s will we will succeed, she asserted.
“Our consistent endeavour and clear demand are the revival of Article 370 and Article 35A, along with the restoration of statehood, so that this arbitrary overreach can be brought to an end,” Itoo concluded.
