Srinagar, J & K : Teams of the Criminal Investigation Department’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing on Sunday conducted searches at multiple locations in Shopian, Kulgam districts of South Kashmir as part of ongoing investigations, officials said.

In Shopian, a CIK team headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police conducted a search at the residential premises of Irfan Ahmad Ganie, son of late Ghulam Hassan Ganie, at Nadigam village. The search was underway at the time of filing this report.

In Kulgam district, CIK personnel also carried out a search operation at a residential premises. The operation was conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and is reportedly linked to an investigation into alleged subversive activities.
The operation was being led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police from CID/CIK, with the search continuing at the time of reporting.

The exact nature of the cases connected with the searches was not immediately clear. Officials also did not disclose whether any documents, electronic devices or other material had been recovered during the operations.

The searches are part of investigations being pursued by the CIK. Further action, if any, is expected to be taken after assessment of the material gathered during the operations.

Further details regarding the cases, the purpose of the searches and any recoveries are awaited.
