Srinagar,J & K : Oscar winning music composer A R Rahman who is currently in Srinagar has expressed hope that Kashmir will emerge as one of the best destinations for film festivals in India, describing the Valley’s growing film and cultural ecosystem as a major opportunity.
Speaking about the potential of Kashmir as a film and cultural hub Rahman said, I wish Kashmir becomes the best film festival of India. There is a great opportunity.
The renowned music director also said that he plans to return to Srinagar soon and perform for the people raising expectations among music and cinema enthusiasts across Jammu and Kashmir.
Rahman’s remarks come at a time when the government and the film fraternity are increasingly focusing on promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a destination for filmmaking, cultural events and international festivals.
The picturesque landscapes of Kashmir, along with its rich cultural heritage, music traditions and diverse locations, have long attracted filmmakers from across the country.
A stronger film festival ecosystem could further help showcase local talent, attract filmmakers and artists from different parts of India and abroad, and create new opportunities for young people associated with cinema, music and creative industries.
The Valley has also witnessed renewed6 interest in film related activities in recent years, with efforts aimed at encouraging filmmakers to shoot in Jammu and Kashmir and promoting the kashmir as a major cultural and tourism destination.
Rahman’s proposed return for a musical performance is also expected to add further momentum to Kashmir’s emerging cultural calendar and could provide a major platform for local artists and musicians.
