Srinaga, J & K : Police in Sopore, Shopian and Anantnag intensified their crackdown against drug trafficking, apprehending four alleged drug peddlers and recovering contraband substances during separate naka-checking operations.

In Sopore, police apprehended Zakir Rashid Lone of Wadoora during naka checking at Malgonipora under the jurisdiction of Police Post Watergam. Contraband substance was recovered from his possession. Police have registered FIR No. 88/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dangiwacha.

In Shopian, police arrested Ab Ahad Mochi of Audoora Rampathri during checking at Audoora Rampathri. A total of 2.472 kilograms of crushed cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession. FIR No. 198/2026 has been registered at Police Station Shopian under relevant sections of law.

Meanwhile, Anantnag Police arrested two persons, identified as Adil Ahmad Shah of Naibasti and Adil Ahmad Wani of Krangsoo Mattan, during checking at Dugga Petrol Pump, Naibasti Khanabal. Police said 10.31 grams of charas was recovered from their possession. FIR No. 314/2026 under Sections 8/20-29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag.

Investigations in all three cases are underway to ascertain the source of the recovered substances and establish further linkages.

Police said sustained action against drug trafficking will continue to curb the drug menace and protect youth and society from substance abuse.
