When floods bring an unexpected danger — nature takes over in the most dramatic way.

New Delhi : A shocking scene unfolded in southern China after devastating floods damaged a snake breeding farm, allowing nearly 900 snakes to escape into surrounding areas.

Viral videos showing snakes moving through floodwaters have sparked fear among residents and raised concerns about public safety. The incident occurred in Dengwei village, Hengzhou, in China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, after torrential rains linked to Typhoon Maysak caused severe flooding and damaged the facility where the reptiles were kept.

Among the escaped snakes were reportedly cobras and other species, prompting authorities to issue warnings and advise nearby villagers to remain indoors until the reptiles were captured.
Emergency rescue teams were immediately sent to the area to track and safely remove the escaped snakes.

A 10-member rescue team equipped with fishing nets and specialized equipment was deployed for the operation.

According to local officials, many of the escaped snakes were believed to be non-venomous. However, the presence of venomous species increased concerns among residents living near the affected areas.

Videos circulating on Chinese social media appeared to show snakes swimming through floodwaters, creating panic among netizens. Some reports also claimed that villagers stranded by the floods faced snakebite risks and shortages of medical support.

Authorities continue efforts to capture the remaining reptiles and ensure the safety of nearby communities.
