Bihar : A disturbing incident involving two Class 10 students in Jamui, Bihar, has sparked concern after two videos allegedly showing a group of youths stopping and harassing a minor girl and her male friend surfaced on social media. According to preliminary information, the incident reportedly took place around 7 pm on September 19 in the jurisdiction of Jamui Sadar police station. The two students, residents of Jamui town, had reportedly gone to Marwa Pahad on a scooter after attending coaching classes and were allegedly intercepted by a group of youths while returning.
The videos circulating online appear to show several youths surrounding the girl, asking her questions about her name and residence, while the boy accompanying her is reportedly separated from her.
One of the clips allegedly shows the girl being subjected to inappropriate physical behaviour, with some youths appearing to pull or drag her on the road. The footage also appears to show some people attempting to intervene and help the girl, although the alleged harassment reportedly continued after additional youths arrived at the spot.
The entire incident is believed to have lasted around 20 minutes, while two shorter clips of approximately 1 minute 2 seconds and 35 seconds have surfaced online. Police reportedly took cognisance of the viral footage, identified the minor girl and the male student, recorded their statements and registered an FIR based on the available evidence.
Three suspects have been arrested and an SIT has been formed, while police are working to identify and locate other people allegedly involved. Investigators are examining the viral footage, statements and other available evidence to establish the complete sequence of events. The girl and her family had reportedly not initially approached the police after the incident, but the emergence of the videos prompted police action. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and the allegations against the accused will be subject to the legal process.
