Amritsar, Punjab : In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, has busted a drug-smuggling module and arrested four accused persons, recovering 20 kilograms of heroin, officials said.
According to preliminary investigation, the module was allegedly being operated by a Dubai-based drug smuggler in coordination with associates based in Punjab and foreign-based smugglers.
The recovery marks a significant action against organised narcotics networks involved in cross-border drug trafficking.
Investigators are now probing the accused and their alleged links to other members of the network.
A case has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, and further investigation is underway to establish the complete network and identify its backward and forward linkages.
Police said the investigation will focus on tracing the source of the contraband, its intended destinations and the wider network allegedly involved in the smuggling operation.
Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining strict vigil against cross-border smuggling and taking decisive action against drug trafficking and organised criminal networks.
