Srinagar, J & K : A 55-year-old Special Police Officer (SPO), identified as Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Trigham village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, has gone missing along with his service weapon, prompting police and security forces to launch a search operation to trace him.

According to police sources, Ahmed was posted at Police Picket Trigham, located approximately 12–15 kilometres from the district headquarters in Kishtwar. His disappearance has raised concerns, with security personnel working to establish his whereabouts and recover the missing weapon.

Sources said that all possible angles are being examined to determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Heavy rainfall was reported in the area on Thursday morning, around the time he went missing.

One possibility being considered is that Ahmed may have accidentally slipped from a hillock amid the adverse weather conditions. However, this theory remains unconfirmed, and the exact circumstances of his disappearance are yet to be established.

Police and security forces have launched a manhunt and are making efforts to trace the missing SPO and recover his service weapon.

Further details are awaited as the search operation continues.
