Bandipora, J & K : The Indian Army conducted a Khairiyat Patrol in the remote Baktoor sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez Valley of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, reaching out to residents ahead of the harsh winter season.

During the patrol, Army personnel visited homes and interacted with local families to enquire about their well-being and understand the challenges they may face during the winter months. Residents also shared concerns related to access to essential supplies and services.

Gurez remains cut off from the rest of the region for several months during winter due to heavy snowfall and difficult weather conditions. Residents of remote border villages often face prolonged disruptions in connectivity and access to basic facilities during this period.

Army personnel listened to the concerns raised by residents and assured them of continued assistance and cooperation whenever required. They said the Army would remain available to support communities living in the remote and difficult terrain.

Residents welcomed the initiative, saying regular interaction with Army personnel provides reassurance and an opportunity to raise issues directly. Ghulam Mohideen Lone and Mohd Sultan said such visits were particularly important ahead of winter, when heavy snowfall can make movement difficult.

The Khairiyat Patrol is part of the Army’s continued community outreach along the LoC, aimed at maintaining contact with residents of remote areas and remaining responsive to their concerns, particularly ahead of the challenging winter months.
