Major Mid-Day Meal Lapse ? Detergent Allegedly Served Instead of Salt to Students

Nalanda, Bihar: A shocking incident linked to the mid-day meal at a school in Bihar has raised serious concerns. Around 40 students reportedly fell ill after allegedly consuming food in which detergent powder was mistakenly served instead of salt. The incident took place at Parasi Middle School in Nalanda district, triggering panic among students, teachers and parents.

On Tuesday, students were served soybean curry as part of their mid-day meal. As the curry reportedly had less salt, some students asked for additional salt. According to the allegation, detergent powder was mistakenly given to them instead of salt. Unaware of the mix-up, some students reportedly consumed it along with their food.

Soon after the meal, several students complained of stomach pain, vomiting and other symptoms of illness. Following the incident, the school authorities rushed the affected children to Biharsharif Model Hospital for treatment. Parents also reached the hospital after receiving the news, creating an anxious atmosphere.

Doctors immediately began treating the students. Nalanda Civil Surgeon Dr Jay Prakash Singh also visited the hospital and monitored the condition of the children. According to him, all the affected students were safe and receiving treatment.
After learning about the incident, Bihar Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar also visited the hospital and met the affected students. He assured that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for the incident.

The incident has raised several serious questions: How did detergent powder end up near food items? How was it mistaken for salt and served to children? Was it simply a mistake or the result of negligence? A detailed investigation is expected to establish how the mix-up occurred and who was responsible.

The allegations are subject to investigation, and responsibility will be determined based on the findings of the authorities.
