Srinagar,J & K : In a landmark achievement for Indian Mixed Martial Arts, Tauseef Ashraf has become the first athlete from Jammu & Kashmir to earn a place in the Indian contingent for the GAMMA Asian Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from July 28 to August 2.

Representing Team India, Tauseef will compete against some of Asia’s finest MMA athletes, carrying the hopes of the nation and the pride of Jammu & Kashmir. His selection marks a historic milestone for the region and highlights the rapid growth of Mixed Martial Arts in the Union Territory.

Expressing his happiness over the achievement, Tauseef thanked the Mixed Martial Arts Sports Association of Jammu & Kashmir (MMA-SAJK) for its unwavering support and commitment to nurturing talent.

“Representing India is a dream come true and a moment of immense pride. I am grateful to the MMA Sports Association of J&K for providing athletes with the right platform and continuous encouragement. I will give my best to make my country and my Union Territory proud,” he said.Tauseef’s selection is being hailed as a breakthrough for MMA in Jammu & Kashmir, reflecting the emergence of world class talent from the area.

His achievement is expected to inspire a new generation of young athletes to pursue the sport with dedication and aspire to represent India at the highest international level.
