Sopore, J & K : Unemployed agriculture graduates associated with SKUAST-K’s Wadura campus held a candlelight protest in Sopore on Thursday, marking the fourth consecutive day of their agitation over recruitment opportunities in the agriculture sector.
They also called for a review of SRO-442 of 2017, which altered the recruitment structure for Junior Agriculture Extension Officer (JAEO) posts by making them promotional posts.
“It has been nearly 20 years since a recruitment advertisement was issued for these posts,” one of the protesting graduates said, highlighting the prolonged wait faced by agriculture professionals seeking government employment.
The protesting graduates urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene in the matter and initiate a dialogue with their representatives to address their concerns.
