Government Cracks Down on NTA as Calls for Accountability Grow

New Delhi: In a major development amid the ongoing nationwide outrage over the NEET paper leak controversy, the Central Government has taken stringent action against the National Testing Agency (NTA) by removing 47 officials and employees associated with the organisation.

The move comes as student protests continue to intensify, with thousands demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in the conduct of one of India’s biggest entrance examinations.According to government sources, disciplinary proceedings are also expected against several of the removed officials as part of a wider effort to restore public confidence in the country’s examination system.

The government’s decision comes at a time when students across the country are staging protests over the alleged paper leak and irregularities in the NEET examination. Demonstrators have accused the authorities of failing to protect the integrity of the exam and have demanded strict action against those responsible.

In Delhi, students protesting under the banner of CJP have continued their agitation, reiterating that they will not withdraw their movement until the Union Education Minister resigns and accountability is fixed at the highest level.

Officials say the action against the NTA is only the beginning of a broader reform programme initiated by the Ministry of Education. The ministry is reportedly working on comprehensive measures aimed at strengthening transparency, improving institutional accountability, and preventing examination-related irregularities in the future.Government sources indicate that several more administrative and structural decisions regarding the NTA may be announced in the coming weeks.

The NTA has faced intense scrutiny following allegations of paper leaks and examination irregularities. In response, the Education Ministry has initiated a large-scale restructuring of the agency’s organisational framework and operational procedures.

The proposed reforms are expected to include stronger monitoring mechanisms, enhanced security protocols, improved examination management systems, and stricter accountability measures for officials involved in conducting national-level entrance tests.

The government maintains that the restructuring aims to ensure greater transparency, credibility, and fairness in future examinations. Officials believe the overhaul will help rebuild students’ trust in the examination process and strengthen the integrity of India’s competitive testing system.
