New Delhi: A closer look at the financial profiles of India’s Rajya Sabha MPs has revealed striking figures, with 31 lawmakers declaring assets worth more than ₹100 crore each! According to a June 2026 report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW), 226 of the 233 sitting Rajya Sabha MPs were included in the analysis, and 31 of them around 14% declared assets exceeding ₹100 crore in their election affidavits.

The report puts the combined declared assets of these 226 lawmakers at approximately ₹26,047 crore, with average declared assets of ₹115.25 crore per MP. Among the political parties, seven of the 107 BJP MPs analysed and six of the 29 Congress MPs reported assets above ₹100 crore.

Two MPs each from the YSR Congress Party, Telugu Desam Party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Nationalist Congress Party also fell into this category. The report identified BRS MP Dr Bandi Partha Saradhi Reddy as the lawmaker with the highest declared assets, at around ₹5,300 crore, followed by AAP MP Rajinder Gupta, with approximately ₹5,053 crore.

YSRCP MP Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy declared assets worth around ₹2,577 crore, while Congress MP Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi reported approximately ₹2,558 crore. Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan also featured among the lawmakers with substantial declared wealth, with assets of around ₹1,578 crore. The state-wise figures show that Telangana had four MPs out of seven, or 57%, with declared assets above ₹100 crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh, where five of 11 MPs, or 45%, belonged to this category.

In Odisha, three of the 10 MPs analysed declared assets exceeding ₹100 crore. The report also highlighted the concentration of wealth among lawmakers from the two Telugu-speaking states: 18 MPs from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh together declared assets worth approximately ₹10,259 crore, accounting for nearly 39% of the total assets recorded in the analysis.

These figures are based on information disclosed in election affidavits and offer a snapshot of the financial backgrounds of members of Parliament’s Upper House. However, declared wealth alone does not explain a lawmaker’s political career, professional background or role in public life. The ADR findings bring renewed attention to the financial diversity of India’s parliamentary representatives and the importance of transparency in election-related disclosures.
