Pulwama, J&K : Shariya Manzoor a talented kabaddi player from Pulwama has been selected to participate in the first-ever Asian Kabaddi League (Women’s Chapter-I). Her selection is a major milestone not only in her sporting career but also for women’s kabaddi in the Union Territory.

Known for her determination, discipline and consistent performances on the kabaddi mat, Shariya has represented Jammu & Kashmir at various national level competitions and earned recognition as one of the state’s most promising athletes. Through years of hard work, rigorous training and dedication to the sport, she has emerged as an inspiration for aspiring sportspersons, especially young girls in the in Kashmir.

According to an official communication issued by the league organisers the Asian Kabaddi League will be held from August 1 to August 16, 2026. Shariya has been directed to report for the official coaching and preparation camp on July 26 at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Gurugram, Haryana, where players from across Asia will undergo training before the competition.

Her selection is expected to bring recognition to Pulwama and Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting the growing sporting talent emerging from the region. Sports enthusiasts and well wishers have congratulated Shariya expressing confidence that she will represent the country and the Union Territory with pride.
