Shopian, J & K : A coordinated security operation in the Shopian district led to the neutralization of a suspected militant depot on Monday, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of weaponry.
Officials confirmed that a joint team comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the 44th battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles, and the CRPF launched the tactical raid in the Naikpora Memender area. The mission was initiated following the receipt of precise intelligence regarding militant activity.
During a thorough combing operation within a local orchard, the security contingent successfully located and dismantled the concealed underground facility. The haul included an AK-47 assault rifle, two corresponding magazines, and 60 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Additionally, authorities recovered a handgun, a fragmentation grenade, and six rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Following the discovery, law enforcement agencies have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the source of the contraband and the specific operations for which it was destined.
